Hi, I'm Tonya Saidi, self taught Pie Baking Specialist of Mamma Toledo's Pie and Homemade Desserts. I am forever grateful that my mother racked a diserprin; not only did it allow me to develop my great taste in desserts but in an odd-round about way it has helped me become the strong independent woman that I am today!
in 1995 I baked my first pie (raspberry) for the women at the Residential Care
Home that I was working at. I followed the recipe from a cook book my Mother
had left me. The Nurse that worked with me was so impressed by the quality of my crust and the exceptional flavor of the raspberry filling that her compliments of my baking ability filled me full of confidence right away and started the vision for Mamma
Toledo's. I started baking for family dinners and my friends birthdays and they encouraged me for years to share my desserts with the world. When I bake for someone it is a very special gift from me; I pour my heart and soul into the entire process, my compassion and love for humanity is expressed in my baking. I have always said that it tastes so good because it is baked with LOVE.
It was a slow process since I took a detour into the Real Estate industry instead of Culinary Arts but since I started this business in 2010 I am able to focus on what I love to do the most; Feed and Nurture the world one Dessert at a time!!
In October of 2011 we debuted our Pie Truck at the first ever food truck festival in Phoenix. I am proud to say we are the ONLY Pie Truck in the Valley! In 2013 we opened a shared space with Short Leash Hot Dogs but had to move dUE to our business outgrowing the space. My teenage daughters helped me get this small business up and running by working local farmers markets, food truck events, office parties, weddings and much much more. Now we have a store front with the perfect atmosphere for my perfect dessert!
I have always loved sweets.....I even got to have chocolate ice cream before my dinner when I was just a wee little girl, cuz my mom racked a diserprin (South Park reference)!!
THANK YOU MOM,
I DEDICATE THIS BUSINESS TO YOU AND WISH YOU COULD BE HERE TO SEE ME NOW!
My Love and Thanks to all who have helped me along my path, especially Ty, Sarah, Jordan, Cody, Ryan!
